Notice To Government: Fix Your Own Problems

It never ceases to amaze me at how much the government tries to meddle its way into every possible issue. But last week, I think they hit an all-time low.

The issue is known as Spygate, the recent football scandal involving the NE Patriots who were caught illegally filming the opposition.

Most people believe that the commissioner of the NFL, Roger Goodell, did an excellent job in dealing with the scandal. He dealt with the problem immediately and dished out unprecedented punishments (the largest fine ever and the taking away of a first round draft choice for the first time). The message was loud and clear, and generally well received.

Well received by everyone, except Senator Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania. He is questioning the quality of Goodell's investigation and is upset with the fact that the NFL destroyed the tapes. After going back and forth in the press, both sides are now trying to set up a meeting next week. Congressional hearings are still possible.

According to Specter, "I think the integrity of football is very important, and I think the National Football League has a special duty to the American people -- and further the Congress -- because they have an antitrust exemption."

Please!

How about fixing your own problems?

Last time I looked, the economy was heading into a recession.

Last time I looked, the stock market has been crashing.

Last time I looked, the Iraq war has not been won and the cost is approaching one trillion dollars.

Last time I looked, the US dollar is at all-time lows and much of the world despises us.

Last time I looked, the national deficit was approaching ten trillion dollars.

Last time I looked, there was no plan for Social Security or health care.

I could list 100 problems and I'm sure that that Spygate would not make the list.
